About Us
Ceci
Paolo is a food, culinary and lifestyle emporium with Mediterranean and
Oriental flavours based in the charming, historic market town of Ledbury,
Herefordshire. Housed in a revitalised 16th Century timbered building,
the store has paved the way for the establishment in the town of a fine
collection of individual, “real” shops, attracting visitors
from far and wide. The business was founded and designed by Patricia Harrison,
an Australian who has worked internationally for over 30 years, but whose
life-long dream was to open a shop. The store has many inspirations -
from the eclectic shops of the long-gone Rowe Street in the Sydney of
the '50s and '60s and the Japanese Trade Centre in Sydney that awakened
a love of Japanese design and sensibilities - to those fantastic stores,
Valvona and Crolla in Edinburgh and Books for Cooks in London. The store
is dedicated to celebrating and sharing her love and enjoyment of food,
wine, clothing and beautiful, stylish but useful objects for the home.
And, while these objects may appear to be an eclectic mix, they all derive
from Patricia's passion, practicality, good taste, integrity and vision.

Books
There is nothing quite like browsing through cookery books when there
is cooking in the air. Our cookery books (with well over 1,000 titles)
are personally chosen to reflect our particular areas of interest both
geographically (Britain, the Mediterranean, Middle East, North Africa,
South East Asia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand) and by subject matter
(baking, vegetarian, cooking for friends, fast healthy food for busy people,
slow food……). We also try to keep on the shelves the entire
repertoire of those cookery writers whom we believe produce "classics".
The book selection also covers wine as well as lifestyle along Mediterranean
and Oriental themes.
Kitchen, Home and Lifestyle
Together with "The Kitchen Cupboard", a speciality
cookware shop that shares our building, we stock everything you could
need for your kitchen under one roof. The wide range of electrical equipment
for both domestic and semi-professional kitchens features only the very
best brands - Amana, Cuisinart, Dualit, KitchenAid, Magimix, Maytag, Siemens.
With one of the best collections around of espresso coffee makers - think
Gaggia, Jura, KitchenAid, Magimix Nespresso, Saeco and Siemens - we also
offer everything for coffee fanatics from state-of-the-art machines to
advice on the best coffee to use.
The table top is well catered for with Riedel glassware and ceramics
from local designers as well as Burma, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan.
Kitchenware is strongly design-based, drawing predominantly on the best
Scandinavian, Australian, German, British, American, Italian and Japanese designers. Products
for shopping, travel, work and play all have their own sections. With

priced solutions. Gifts are well thought-out and unusual whether they're
stationery, gadgets or just plain good ideas. The product selection is
always evolving and provides constant interest for customers.
Clothing and Accessories
The exquisite clothes ranges have several things in common –
they are stylish, comfortable, generous, exceptionally well-made, mainly
in natural fabrics, and, being designed for real people, are fashionable
while at the same time being beyond fashion. Brands include eskandar, Joyce Ridings, Yacco Maricard, Elemente Clemente,
Flax, Backstage and Australian designers, Kathleen Berney and Kerry Grima. To complement the clothes there are great accessories,
such as delicate silk shawls, stunning bags, shoes and jewellery, mainly one-off pieces made by artisanal jewellery designers. A small collection of menswear is a recent addition to the range.
Oriental Style
A unique collection of antique and modern Japanese and Chinese
furniture, screens, kimono, pictures and smaller pieces intermingles with
the clothing. Classic and modern FLOS lighting, as well as oriental lanterns,
illuminate the store and are all available to buy.
