These famous cloves grow on the Pemba island in Zanzibar, Tanzania. They are hand-picked by farmers just before they are ready to flower. Picking the cloves at this late stage creates a deeper, more intense flavour. After picking they are sun-dried, changing their colour from pink to brown. 

Sourced from a place famous for their cloves, their taste honours this distinction. They have a rich warmth, a tingly sweetness, a mentholy buzz and a brightness unlike regular cloves. Hints of pineapple also enliven the senses. 

It's the perfect full-bodied addition to meats and roasted vegetables. They can also be ground onto desserts for an extra zing. If you like mulled wine, these are a must-have for any festive recipe.
