DESCRIPTION

The Colomba cake is the traditional Italian Easter cake, baked in the shape of a dove to signify peace and renewal.  Never before have we so needed these cakes to gift at Easter time.  The beautiful see through wrapping makes this Top-Line Colomba stand head and shoulders above most Chocolate Easter Eggs (except ours of course).  Enjoy a slice of Colomba cake with a glass of wine, in true Italian style, or with a tea or coffee. Best served warm or at room temperature.

Loison make the cake by natural fermentation of sourdough. The dough is especially soft with orange peel from Sicily and filled with delicious Sabayon cream, covered with italian almonds icing and grains of sugar.

The Easter Colomba with zabaione or sabayon cream is a soft cake, obtained by natural fermentation from the mother yeast and is the result of 72 hours of patient artisan processing. The yellow dough is soft and well dimpled, owing to the use of fresh milk, fresh butter and fresh cream. It is light in texture, enriched with candied Sicilian orange peel and filled with a delicious sabayon cream. The surface is covered with a fragrant italian almond glaze, and decorated with whole almonds and granulated sugar.
