Merula Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Merula, housed in a superbly-designed, award-winning tin, is the Valdueza Estate's second oil. Pressed from a blend of the olives grown on the estate - arbequina, hojiblanca, picual and morisca - to give an oil which is always delightfully well-balanced.A versatile oil, it can be used equally well for cooking, and in flavoured vinaigrettes as well as for finishing dishes.

Tasting Notes:

Merula has a delicate yet layered aroma; sweet meadow grass and perfumed marjoram give way to a gentle almond nuttiness, with some bitterness reminiscent of hazelnut skins and a fruity apple-flesh flavour developing. Gently spicy black-pepper finish. 

Soft and subtle, this oil would pair beautifully with white fish or boiled new potatoes. 

The superb tins were designed to reflect the essence of the oil, using the silhouette of the blackbirds that traditionally flock around the estate’s olive groves. Apart from protecting the superb oil from the light, these tins put art on your kitchen’s counter top.
