Washi Origami Earrings Ball Black Stripes

DESCRIPTION

My love of jewellery, paper, origami and Japan come together in these exquisite Japanese honmino-shi earrings that are as light as a feather.

Honmino-shi is the premium quality washi (Japanese paper) consisting solely of koko (mulberry bark fibre) and made using specialised tools and traditional methods.  It has been placed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Japan has a long history of safeguarding intangible aspects of cultural heritage.

Each pair of earrings comes in a lovely wooden box with a leaflet listing the papermakers and component parts.  Each of the Japanese motifs has been carefully screen printed by hand.
