DESCRIPTION

Neeru Kumar is renowned for her innovative textile designs and this top is no exception. This first thing that strikes you about this top is its amazing colour. Then it’s the fabric - wool that has the wrinkled to form patterns (see detail image). The combination of the two features reminds me of deep ocean pools. The effects are produced by the shibori technique. Shibori is a traditional artisan dyeing process which creates beautiful and individual pieces. The fabric is pleated, stitched and fastened entirely by hand before dyeing, meaning no two items will ever be the same.
